Conversions recorded before spending
Before a dollar goes to Google, calls, form messages and bookings are set up as conversions, so every keyword is judged on the inquiries it brings rather than the clicks.
For a business in North Bay, Ontario, a vague campaign shows up on the invoice. Broad keywords and relaxed location settings let your ad appear to job hunters, people researching a different trade and searchers hundreds of kilometres away, and Google charges for each of those clicks. The suggestion lists show the risk: “north bay plumber” runs into plumbing jobs and supplies, and “north bay hvac” ends in “north bay jobs”.
The reverse matters just as much. Some of your best customers are not in the city when they search. Anglers plan winter trips around “lake nipissing ice fishing hut rentals”, visitors look for “north bay hotels near nipissing university”, and cottage buyers browse waterfront listings from further south. The city estimates about 1.2 million people visit the region each year. Ads limited to phones inside city limits miss them; ads open to everyone waste money.
The local economy sets the clock. Snow removal and furnace searches climb as winter closes in, boat and cottage searches follow the thaw, and the mining supply firms based here sell to buyers who keep office hours. More than 60 of those firms employ about 2,500 people locally, and their customers can be a long way from Lake Nipissing.
Search demand
Collected from Google.ca on 4 October 2026. Type “google ads north bay” and Google offers nothing, so owners reach for agency wording instead, while a fair share of the trade suggestions are job searches: ready-made negatives.
We launch with the tightest setup that still brings inquiries: ads shown to people in North Bay and the communities you serve, with negatives such as jobs, salary, course, free and accident in place from day one. Ad text names Ontario or Nipissing, so the wrong people scroll past. Only when that core campaign produces inquiries at a sensible cost do we add a capped campaign for visitors planning a trip.
Paid or organic
The two pay back on different timetables. Owners here often switch ads on for the ice-fishing months or a spring launch and leave SEO working underneath all year.
The work
Before a dollar goes to Google, calls, form messages and bookings are set up as conversions, so every keyword is judged on the inquiries it brings rather than the clicks.
The main campaign reaches people who are in, or regularly in, North Bay and the surrounding towns you pick, not anyone who has merely shown interest in a place with that name.
“Jobs”, “salary”, “course”, “free” and “accident” blocked before launch, with a few more added each week as real search terms come in.
More spend while furnace, snow or ice-fishing searches peak and less as they fade, agreed with you in advance rather than left to an algorithm.
Ads for trade buyers run while offices are staffed, ads for diners and shoppers lean into evenings and Saturdays, and the account goes quiet whenever a call would ring out unanswered.
Ads for lawyers, insurance brokers, mortgage brokers and car dealers reviewed against the Law Society of Ontario, RIBO, FSRA or OMVIC rules that apply, and the Competition Act.
Done carefully
The standards we keep for every client, in writing, so you can check us against them.
Google charges your card for clicks; we charge the same plan fee whatever you decide to spend with Google.
The account is opened under your business, you are its administrator, and we are invited in as managers. Running it belongs to the Pro tier, $700 monthly in Canadian dollars, which you may drop after any billing month. Go elsewhere and the campaigns, their history and every recorded conversion simply stay put with you.

We pick the searches worth winning, including the “ontario” versions, and give each one its own page.
Profile, page, content and listing fixes, beginning with the changes most likely to bring calls.
A short monthly note on calls, messages and positions, and what we intend to do next.
Questions
With two filters. The first is location: ads appear only to people physically in, or habitually in, North Bay and the towns you name. The second is a negative list that blocks job hunters, students and other searches that will never become a sale. Once a week we check which searches actually triggered the ads and close any gap.
Sometimes that is the whole point. Ice-fishing outfitters, cottage rentals, motels and waterfront realtors can hear first from people who live hours away. That traffic gets a campaign of its own with a fixed ceiling, so the cost of each out-of-town inquiry shows up on its own line.
No. Account management is bundled into the $700 Pro tier, billed monthly in Canadian dollars. Every click is paid by you to Google, using the payment method saved in your own ad account; none of it passes through us.
They can, if the keywords are precise. Specific product and service terms, shown during office hours to the regions where your customers operate, tend to bring fewer but better leads than broad terms left running around the clock. We also filter out the job seekers who type the same words.
Claims must be accurate under the Competition Act and the rules of your regulator, such as the Law Society of Ontario, RIBO, FSRA or OMVIC, and Google adds its own policies for financial and legal services. We keep the wording factual and show it to you before anything runs.
Give a new account two or three months. The first weeks mostly go into learning which searches bring real calls and which only bring clicks, and a seasonal trade needs a full season before its numbers mean much. You can still stop at the end of any month.
