A page per service family
Cuts and colour, barbering, nails, esthetics and spa, each with prices or ranges and time to allow.
Beauty searches in North Bay, Ontario lean towards right now. Straight after the plain phrase comes north bay hair salons walk in, and massage north bay open now appears among the general “open now” searches. Place matters as much as timing: north bay mall hair salon and north bay mall nails show clients thinking of the shopping centre first.
The word spa is a problem of its own. Type north bay spa and Google offers a basketball team, a spay clinic and folding tables before it reaches north bay spa packages. Nail and barber searches pick up just as much unrelated noise. Writing out each service in full, with “North Bay, Ontario” beside it, cuts through the noise.
Clients vary widely: close to 8,700 university and college students on one side, and on the other the 21.7% of residents aged 65 or older. Both groups search before they book.
Search demand
All taken as written from Google.ca suggestions, 4 October 2026. Watch for “walk in”, “mall” and “open now”.
Most beauty clients decide within a minute or two on a phone. They look for today’s openings, a price list, photos of recent work and a way to book without calling. A Google profile with a working booking link and a services list, backed by a site saying the same, answers all four. Lovely photos with no prices or availability send people back to the results.
Common gaps
Four things that keep good salons and spas out of sight for new clients.
Booking platforms are handy, but their pages belong to them. Your own site needs a services page in text, with prices or ranges.
If you take them, say so on the site and profile, with the times that suit. If not, say that too, and spare someone a trip in the snow.
Social posts are hard for search engines to use. A small gallery on your own site, captioned by service, adds real weight.
Registered massage therapy and relaxation treatments fall under different rules. Mixing them confuses clients and invites claims you should not make.
The work
Cuts and colour, barbering, nails, esthetics and spa, each with prices or ranges and time to allow.
Categories, services, hours and a booking link matching the site, plus fresh photos monthly.
Short pages for stylists and technicians who want one, with specialties and recent work.
Spa packages and gift cards described properly, ahead of the holiday season.
After each visit, a quick note inviting clients to say which treatment they came in for.
French pages you have written get separate addresses and language tags. We do not translate.
Done carefully
Every field has its own rules and regulators. These are the limits we keep for this one.
We describe what a service is and how long it takes, never what it will cure or reverse.
Registered massage therapists answer to their regulatory college, which has advertising rules of its own, so RMT pages are written with the therapist and kept apart from spa services. The Competition Act covers misleading claims, including before-and-after photos and promised results from skin treatments. We use your own photos, with client permission, and your real prices.

A short monthly note on calls, messages and positions, and what we intend to do next.
Questions
It helps, but you are renting space on someone else’s platform. A small site with services, prices and photos, linked to the app, gives Google pages that are yours.
Yes. Clients put the mall in the search itself, so name it in your directions and profile, and say which entrance is nearest.
Students compare on price and timing. A clear price list, any student rate, walk-in hours and directions from the campuses all help.
If you offer spa services, yes, but describe them. Since “north bay spa” alone returns so much unrelated noise, phrases such as spa pedicure or spa package do more of the work.
For a chair or two, Starter at $300 a month is a sensible first step; Growth costs $500, Pro $700. Only Pro adds Google Ads management, and any ad budget is paid to Google rather than to us. Prices are Canadian dollars, billed month by month. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.
